MADE IN AMERICA
Individuals who evangelized a sport years ago, garments crafted domestically that represent exactly that.
“Domestic Manufacturing,” a phrase we often don’t hear as regularly as we’d like to these days. We tend to think back to the tales of industrial America. Stories of the early 1900’s steel empire, Henry Ford’s assembly line, American’s efforts during WWII when everyone from fashion designers to Rolls Royce shifted consumer production and retrofitted their resources to produce military necessities. An era where less was more, quality over consumption, and pieces that have lasted us a lifetime to this day.
Since inception, it has been our mission at Alps & Meters to build a brand on a set of traditional values that reflect our deep appreciation for authentic alpine sport. To create timeless alpine apparel with uncompromising performance. Combining natural materials, classic garment construction techniques and contemporary technologies. It has been a long term goal of ours to guide this domestic manufacturing vision into a reality for our skiwear. As of this year (2022), we can check that box off on our list.
In partnership with Evolution St. Louis, we have been able to unlock domestic manufacturing. Easier said than done, Evo St. Louis is THE premier high-tech knitting facility. Using cutting-edge 3D and complete garment seamless knitting technology, they have created their manufacturing facility and a supply chain system that will revolutionize the future. Skiing in the United States was delivered into the arms of Americans by Scandinavian immigrants who introduced, taught, and evangelized the sport throughout the country during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. When married with quintessential curiosity, an embedded “can-do” spirit, and a natural American bravado, the sport was readily adopted by adrenaline junkies eager to test their edges and fortitude in downhill flight. Recognizing a shared set of culture values and a collective need for speed, the Authentic American Alpine collection pays homage to the glory days of alpine sport knitwear.
Skiing is a sport of elegance and precision, our garments resemble these same qualities.
