U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall Of Fame

None-other than in Ishpeming, Michigan sits The United States Ski & Snowboard Hall Of Fame.

With a mission to honor and celebrate the athletes, pioneers and visionaries of the United States who have significantly enriched the global sports of skiing and snowboarding. To as well, showcase their stories and historic memorabilia in the national museum.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum was established in Ishpeming in 1954. Besides recognizing America's skiing greats, it has accumulated an outstanding collection of skiing material, both artifacts and archives, which preserves and reflects the great skiing tradition and heritage of skiing in the United States. The building's architecture, represents both the Nordic and alpine traditions of ski sport and contains over 15,000 square feet of exhibits and the Roland Palmedo Ski Library with over 1,300 books books, magazines, videos and films on the sport of skiing and snowboarding.

The Hall hold hundreds of artifact ski’s from over the years. Brands that would make you grin and remind you of a classic ski memory one’s you have yet to discover all these years later.

Skiing since he was a young boy in Ishpeming. Executive Director of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall Of Fame, Justin Koski has been instrumental in preserving not only the artifacts in The Hall, but the tradition of skiing in his hometown.

Housing the archives and having the physical museum is just a small piece of what we do. Since we are the National hall of fame, we want people to discover us, as well as be aware of our organizations mission which is to; honor and celebrate the top athletes and sport builders that have made skiing and snowboarding great in America.

While sitting down with Justin and utilizing the ski artifacts for our Authentic American Alpine Marketing material of 2022, we witnessed the true Alpine spirit found in the local town of Ishpeming still vibrant and alive today. It was clear to us that the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall Of Fame and individuals like Justin are just getting started in tell the authentic story of skiing in North America.

 

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame also provides our sports' highest honor to ski and snowboard athletes. Athletes are elected for induction each year with a medal of honor presented to each new member inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Hall manages all election activity, as well, it holds its national induction ceremony at a historic resort each year.

Gary Rasmussen (retired Ishpeming Ski Jumper) shared with us some of his favorite all time Hall Of Fame inductees over the years and their contributions to the sport of skiing.
