Introducing new Chief Tradition Officer Dan Egan and the Designed by Tradition Podcast

By now, you may know a little bit about Dan Egan. He has long been a hero to us at Alps & Meters and we are now pleased to call him a teammate, as he joins the team as our new Chief Tradition Officer. His role is to be an ambassador of Alps & Meters’ mission to celebrate the history and traditions of the sport. First up: the launch of our new podcast series, Designed by Tradition, where Dan will serve as host. Listen below, or on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Dan’s list of accomplishments in the sport is as impressive as it is formative, a world-renowned skier and pioneer of extreme sports. Dan has appeared in thirteen Warren Miller ski films and is known for skiing the most remote regions of the world with his brother John Egan. In 2001, Powder Magazine named him one of the most influential skiers of our time and in 2016, he was inducted into the US Skiing & Snowboarding Hall of Fame.

With a purpose focused upon furthering the long standing traditions of alpine sport, Dan’s pedigree and passion make him ideally suited to spearhead and enhance Alps & Meters’ classic cultural values and respect for skiing’s past while helping to contribute to the sport’s future.

Beginning with the co-production and hosting of the brand’s first podcast series, it is my hope that Dan’s role as Chief Tradition Officer will influence every corner of our brand and business such that his pure love of alpine sport might continue to amplify our values-in-action, whether manifested in community-driven content, product, events, or ongoing internal and external relationship development.

I grew up watching Dan pioneer the sport of extreme skiing along with other Warren Miller athletes and because he is a skiing hero of mine, I’m doubly-excited to now call him a partner on the Alps & Meters journey.

During the late 1980s and 1990s, Dan Egan’s skiing exploits mirrored and chronicled the geopolitical landscape of the world, an approach that played a critical role in redefining the extreme in extreme sports. His innovative adventures exceeded the extreme physical challenge of the mountains and forced ski bums and civilians alike to see skiing (and sports in general) as a means of engaging with the cultures, histories, and diverse people of the world. Dan’s global approach to extreme sports created the foundation for massive growth in international travel and the demand for technology to capture and share individuals’ adventures and experiences while abroad.

As a ski ambassador, coach, and guide, Dan Egan can now be found on the snow at Big Sky, Montana, Valle Nevado, Chile and Val D’Isère, France, sharing his knowledge and passion for the sport.
