Jeff Gorsuch: Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame
To anyone familiar with alpine fashion, the Gorsuch name will ring a bell. The eponymous alpine boutique (with 12 stores throughout the Mountain West and a world class International catalogue business), was founded by husband and wife Renie and David Gorsuch (both Olympic downhillers) in the 1960’s. Synonymous with alpine elegance, the Gorsuch family has expanded on the original ski shop to offer a highly curated selection of alpine gear, from hard-goods to home and lifestyle.
David and Renie’s son Jeffrey has upheld this tradition, and this weekend, he’ll join his parents and paternal grandfather as an inductee into the Colorado Snowsport Hall of Fame.
Having come up through Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, Jeffrey headed to St. Lawrence University for college, and raced on the Europa circuit as a member of the U.S. Ski Team.
After college, the young Gorsuch moved back to Aspen, where he has been running his family stores there for 25 years. A staple of the social and philanthropic fabric of Aspen, Jeff and his family annually contributed to a program that provides ski equipment to 300 local kids who would otherwise be unable to afford to ski on their local slopes. Jeff’s goal is to ensure that every child in the Roaring Fork Valley who would like to ski is able to. In addition to serving as the president of the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club, Jeff has served on the board of the Aspen Community School and Aspen Education Foundation.
Inductees into the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame are categorized as Athletes, Sport Builders, Inspirations, or Pioneers, and it’s easy to see why Jeff Gorsuch is such an outstanding Sport Builder. His efforts to support youth development in the Roaring Fork Valley are a testament to his family’s long standing legacy in these mountains. Congratulations to Jeff and all of the 2019 inductees!
