Introducing the Classic Shell Jacket
When Alps & Meters Founder Lou Joseph was conceiving of the Fall/Winter '16 product line, one image kept coming to mind. It was that of Robert Redford in a full zip, collared shell jacket, balanced cooly on a ski pole on the set of his 1969 classic film, Downhill Racer.
To pay homage to the sartorial inspiration of the film, the Classic Shell Jacket came to life. In a subtle British Millerain Waxed Canvas Tartan, this full-zip piece evokes Redford in his prime.
A true 3-season jacket, and lined with a 10k/10k waterproof membrane, this piece is designed to weather foggy fall days, winter storms and spring showers. Pittard's leather accents at the wrists and pockets add interest, and two piece tailored sleeves draw on a time honored construction technique to provide ample range of motion. A ribbed interior powder skirt keeps snow and wind from making an unwelcome entrance.
With considered details and a tailored profile, we love the Classic Shell just as much with our Alpine Winter Trousers, as we do with a pair of selvedge denim and boots before the flakes start to fly. One thing to note: Due to the tailored construction of this piece, we recommend selecting one size up to allow for winter layering.
