Where to Stay: Washington School House Hotel, Park City
We're always on the hunt for new and interesting places to lay our heads after a long day chasing powder. In summer, we love Park City for its hiking, biking, and great food scene, and in the winter PC wins points for its feather-weight snow, quirky architecture, and abundance of incredible apres ski haunts. The charming Washington School House Hotel provides a chic and amenity-filled hideout for luxury seeking adventurers, or the fireside massage set alike.
Built in 1889 (and yes, named after that Washington), the school was one of three in the Park City area. It functioned as a place of learning until the building sold to the VFW in 1936. Operating as a modest B&B since 1984, the Schoolhouse was gutted and renovated to it's current glory and opened to the public in 2011.
With 12 guest rooms and suites, the hotel is intimate and service oriented. A short walk from Park City Mountain Resort's Town Lift, and with a 24 Hour Ski Concierge at your beck and call, this small property is the perfect alternative to the more rustic, western styled resorts that dominate most ski towns. The pool and spa terraced into the hillside behind the hotel is a great place to soothe tired legs after a day on the hill.
