Introducing Alpinist Joshua Perez

Josh Perez is a photographer, climber, and Alps & Meters Alpinist based in Denver, Colorado.  Following Josh on instagram is like reading his love letter to the mountains. It's clear that he lives and breathes to get outside, and his photographic eye comes in handy on his adventures...Josh's images give us a serious desire to get outdoors.

An avid climber, he's up with the sun for a climbing gym workout before settling in at his desk for his 9-5 at a tech startup in Boulder. Weekends are spent hiking, fishing, shooting or climbing in the mountains with friends and his two pups. An ideal day for me means being in the mountains with some friends and a camera.

My family took a trip to Canada and then to Alaska as a kid, and those childhood memories of being surrounded by such beauty still stick with me and drive me back to the mountains in a deeper way.

I first picked picked up a camera in high school (tenth grade to be specific). Our high school was granted the funds to build a darkroom and huge studio, so I began taking classes and was instantly hooked. 

I always wanted to pursue photography but I put it on hold during college for some reason, and looking back that was such a mistake.

My love for photography never left though and a couple of years ago my wife upgraded me with some nice cameras and lenses as a present.

I’d say having my wife push me to pursue my own dreams has made me fall in love with photography in a whole new way.

I’ve got two dogs so outside of my 9-5 I try and get out with them as much as possible. I want them to live a happy life outdoors just as much as I do.
